Meet the wonderful women behind Tandem Quilting Co.!
They will have a pop-up shop and do a talk on tips for making (or having made) T-shirt/memory quilts as well as what you need to know to have custom clothing made.
We are excited to be planning an event with the folks of Tandem Quilting Co. at IQF&Y on Saturday, 10/26. If you have not heard about Tandem Quilting Co. before, it is a company our good friend Elizabeth Beck started to employ refugee women to help her with the demand of making T-shirt and memory quilts for her many customers, and some of the Tandem Quilt co. Folks will be at the shop for a meet-and-greet and to teach us some of their skills. At 11 am, there will be a talk on prepping your shirts for a t-shirt quilt (whether you are making it or handing it off).
There will be someone demonstrating making quilted holiday cards and weaving on a loom on and off during the event. Some of these women are also fabulous at altering and copying your clothing with your choice of fabrics (you've seen several of Sarah's favorite shirts made with some of her favorite Kaffe Fassett prints), so this is a great opportunity to make the contacts to have things made for yourself in the future. There will be some examples of custom clothing also.
The Tandem folks will also provide coffee, have a bake sale and a pop up sale on some of their products in the classroom.
Don't miss this chance to meet some lovely women and learn some valuable information. Click over to our website here to see more details.
