Intown Quilters Fabric and Yarn is now a web store only with fast shipping!

It's a red, white and blue kind of weekend

May 24, 2013
Memorial Day is Monday, May 27, and Intown Quilters will be closed that day. We will, however, be open regular business hours the rest of the weekend. (Be sure to read to the end of this email for a weekend special offer!)

Quilt Market is over but we'll be enjoying the fruits of our labors for months to come. So much beautiful fabric! Things like Waterfront Park by Violet Craft(Michael Miller), Collage by Carrie Bloomston (Windham), Briar Rose by Heather Ross (Windham), Acacia by Tula Pink (Westminster), tons of batiks from Hoffman, and more of those amazing textured blenders from Diamond Textiles. If you want to be among the first to know when some of these things show up, you need to stalk "like"
 our Facebook page.
Of course there's plenty new to check out at the shop right now, too. We've got 25 bolts of the new textured solids line from Andover and it's got to be touched to be truly appreciated. We've also put out some bolts of A Closer Look from Clothworks and restocked a couple of much-loved Kaffe Collective bolts.

If you've been wanting to learn free motion quilting, now is your chance! Taffy is teaching her popular class June 8; sign up or you might miss out, since this class usually fills up quickly. Read below for details on our other upcoming classes including Paper Piecing with Wanda Earley, Fabric Baskets with Pat Jones and Sewing Basics with Mary Abreu.

There are still a few spots in our summer camps but we wouldn't be surprised if they fill up now that schools are wrapping up.
We have two weeks of summer camp in June and three weeks in July. The Sewing Camp in July has only one spot left in it!

In honor of the holiday, all in-stock Patriotic fabric is on sale for 25% off. (Discounts cannot be combined.) This is a great time to stock up for those Patriotic quilts you've been thinking about making for yourself, or maybe some for the Quilts of Valor program. I read recently that they are in need of more quilts to be presented to folks in our own state of Georgia. You can find out more information about the organization here. Make sure you follow our emails to find out about a future QOV sew date at Intown Quilters.

      Happy sewing!

By Hand-the Art of Slow Quilting
Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating.  When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing.  We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting.  This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 3rd Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. There will be a $60 charge for the year which can be prorated if you start after January.

Marti and Me Club at Intown
Join Shirley Paine as she leads this fun club built around Marti Michelle's templates and patterns. This club will being in February and you can choose between the 1st Sunday of each month from 4-6p or the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6-8p in the classroom at IQ. The cost of the club is $60 for the year and entitles you to a different project each month including a free pattern, discounts on the supplies needed for the project and instruction from Shirley Paine.  Each pattern makes a small, as well as, a large quilt project.
