|Clocks move forward one hour on Sunday!
We have a quick-scan barcode sheet at the register. Products on it are fat eighths, all types of fat quarters, both 14" and 20" zippers and the three perle cottons.
Shop Hop starts today, as everyone knows. But we're also prepping for the Original Sewing & Quilting Expo, which runs Thursday-Saturday (set up is today, 3/9) and readying for the Lizzy House workshops on 3/19 and 3/20. Read on for some key information about all of these items.
Students for the Lizzy House workshops receive 20% off their class supplies through today (3/8) and then again next Monday through Friday. The standard 10% class discount applies during Shop Hop, although we have suggested students not shop for supplies during Shop Hop.
Students do not necessarily need to purchase all of their fabric for the quilt prior to class, as they will only be making 3-4 blocks during the class time. We are recommending that, at a minimum, they pick out:
1 yard for petals
1/2 yard for centers
8-10 fabrics for color groups – Lizzy suggests fat eighths, so show customers the buckets of fat eighths that we have cut already; if they want other fabrics, we can cut them either long quarters or fat quarters; they need to have the width of 9 inches, so any cut smaller than a 1/4 yard will not work.
They can also get the 5 yards of background now to take advantage of the 20% off coupon. But they do not need to pick out 48 different fabrics for the color groups.
Original Sewing & Quilting Expo
If Shop Hoppers show their passport at the show, they will receive a small gift from us. This will be included in this week's email but if customers/shop hoppers are talking about hitting the expo, be sure to mention it. People who shop at our booth at the expo also receive a coupon to use in store.
We have some printed patterns that we printed that have prices and bar code stickers on them (Fables on the Square and Glistening Star).
Customers receive a Shop Hop "Sew Cheesy" button when they spend $10. If customers wish to purchase one, the buttons are $2. They are in the register as "Sew Cheesy button."
It's going to be warm this week so please make sure the upstairs thermostat is on "Cool" not "Heat" and hit "run" when you come in. The downstairs is still cool so we may briefly run the heat downstairs to even out the temperature (and keep the air circulating downstairs). Please remember to dress in layers since this time of year is usually cool in the shop in the morning and hot in the afternoon (they are forecasting high 70s so it will end up warm at some points in the shop). You might even bring sandals to change into or wear a skirt or shorts. Sarah asks that you please DO NOT fan yourself and talk about how hot it is in the shop once it gets hot!
Mary made some new name tags. (If the edge of yours is not completely tucked into the pin back, it's not necessary to point it out.)
Just a reminder from last week: Shop Hop is our biggest event of the year and many of these folks only shop once a year. There are always new people discovering the Shop Hop and IQ. Every single one of us is an ambassador for the shop and the shop hop. Be friendly, be helpful and make it your mission to show the 1,000 people who walk through our door those five days that Intown Quilters is THE BEST quilt shop in Georgia!
Time off requests: Please limit requests for time off to a single day for 3/16-4/3. Also, Sarah, Mary and Leslie will be representing IQ at Quiltcon East -- the annual Modern Quilt Guild convention -- in Savannah next February. This will affect time off requests for that time frame.
