Embrace the Kaffe -- Fall 2016 Collection IN STOCK

Oct. 7, 2016

The Fall 2016 Kaffe Fassett Collective is here and it's glorious! The bolts designed by Brandon Mably and Philip Jacobs hit the floor late Thursday afternoon and we can't stop staring at them. Kaffe, Brandon and Philip went bold and vivid for this collection, which includes new prints as well as new colors of some existing designs.

Some beautiful new Cottonworks flannels from Minick and Simpson for Moda have arrived just in time to welcome the cooler fall weather. The colors mix in well with the other flannels we've added, too. They'd make a great flannel quilt to snuggle under! In addition to yardage, we've also stocked some of the Cottonworks Layer Cakes -- those 10" squares are so versatile!

If "eclectic" is more your style, you might want to check out the new additions from Tim Holtz's Correspondence line. Vintage illustrations, ephemera and a subdued palette make for a great combination of fabrics you can chop up or leave big and bold. We've also added his new 108" wide quilt backings, which are printed on the softest cotton sateen -- you've got to feel them to believe it!

On the yarn side of the shop, we're putting out some new lovelies from Lux Adorna Knits: beautiful bulky yarns! The cashmere is just gorgeous in the lighter weight yarns we have from them but these bulky skeins are even more of a treat.

We're excited to celebrate the birth of the Singer Featherweight sewing machine this Sunday. Sign up for our Featherweight sew day or just stop by to see these metal marvels in action!

Our next session of Beginning Quilt Making is coming up in a little more than a week. If you or someone you know has been wanting to explore quilting, this is the class for you. We still have a couple of spots available but expect this class -- our most popular one -- to fill up soon.

     Happy stitching,
     Sarah & the IQ crew

P.S. Next Saturday, Oct. 15, is I Love Yarn Day and we've got fun things in store! Be sure to watch for all the details in next week's newsletter!

This group meets from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on the 1st Tuesday of the month. The club is $10/month or $60 for the entire year. You can sign up online, in person at the shop or via phone (404-634-6924).

By Hand-the Art of Slow Quilting

Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating. When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing. We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 3rd Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. $5 per month.

Help Dalton Davis
Many of you probably remember Dalton Davis, who used to work at the shop before he went off to college. Dalton was a foster kid in Atlanta and then was on his own trying to make his way through college. He has finished school and is now trying to make it in NYC in his Fashion Design field. He still needs a bit of help while he gets started. I have been helping him the past five years, along with some regular help from a few of our very dedicated (and generous) customers, who Dalton and I thank very much! I am reaching out to you again because this talented young man really could use some financial help as he gets going in the working world. If you are willing, click on this paypal button to make a donation or mail or drop by cash or a check made out to Dalton Davis. Anything will help.
