Sarah & the IQ crew
Are you feeling the pressure to finish your gifts for the holidays? We can empathize. It's already Dec. 2 and it seems like there's just not enough time to get everything done, in spite of our determination to give handmade gifts from the heart
We are inspired by a recent story shared by a fellow crafter, who was in the same predicament. She picked out a pattern and the materials, wrapped it as a gift, and included a sweet note explaining her intention to make the perfect handmade gift, which would be delivered in the new year. We think it's a great way to give handmade
while also giving yourself a little more time to make the perfect gift! If you're feeling the crunch and are inspired to do the same, we've got a cute downloadable letter you can print
(previewed at right) to enclose with your handmade-gift-to-be.
Our Holiday Gift Guide
is filled with inspiration for all those folks on your list this season. You can flip through the pages online
or browse through the many offerings on our site
, too. Some items are in stock and ready to take home but a few are pre-orders and will ship closer to the middle of December. And don't forget that you can always send those links to the people who are wondering what to get you.
We are excited to announce IQ's first visit from an international knitting teacher! Kate Atherley
, of Custom Socks: Knit to Fit Your Feet
fame, will be teaching in the shop during the last weekend of January (1/27-1/29
). We are still working out all the details, but we’re planning four or so different two-to-three hour classes on a variety of topics, as well as possibly a lecture opportunity. Save the date and email us
if you'd like to be added to our priority notification list when we start class sign ups.
We are also working on a visit from Cindy Grisdela
the third weekend in February if you have any interest in "artful improv" quilts. Check out her work here
to get an idea if one of her classes would be a nice gift to yourself. Thanks to everyone who's already dropped of toys for our annual Toys for Tots
drive at IQ. Don't forget we'll give you 5 points on your IQ card for each toy you donate between now and 12/15. The organization has a high need for gifts for older kids: sports balls and equipment, craft kits, art supplies, etc.
Classes are listed below and on the website. Don't put off signing up for a class you are interested in because some fill up quickly and you don't want to miss out because you forgot to sign up right away.
Ongoing IQ Class Policies
* You should receive a class supply list about 2 weeks prior to the class by email unless you have stopped by the shop to get one in person.

By Hand-the Art of Slow Quilting
Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating. When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing. We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 3rd Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. $5 per month.
