Inside IQ 4/14/17

Inside IQ: A Newsletter for the IQ Crew

April 14, 2017

Please continue to tell everyone who shops with us to make note that we are closed on Wednesdays.

If you notice that an item you're ringing up has a quantity of zero or a negative number, please make a note of it in the computer notebook so Mary can look into the discrepancy. We are trying to make sure our POS numbers match actual inventory.

Please do not ask for any weekend time off in May. We're going to be short staffed nearly every weekend.

When ringing up a special order that will be shipped, please try to collect the shipping at the time of purchase. The register doesn't seem to let us ring up shipping after the fact, so it's a convoluted process to deal with shipping after the fact. We can fit up to five yards of quilting cotton in a USPS Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope, which is $6.65. If you're not sure if that will cover it, call Mary.

There should be one person covering the front of the shop and one covering the back every shift. If you're in the front, please have a small project you can work on at the front cutting table (on the yarn side) or a task like unfolding and refolding skinny bolts in the front of the shop. If the other coworker moves up front to ring up a customer, trade places so the back is covered. Please do not consider Mary or Sarah as covering the front of the shop unless either has explicitly said so.

We've had a couple of customer service "dings" this week -- one of them specifically related to not acknowledging/helping a customer on two separate occasions -- and it's led to re-evaluating how we cover different areas of the shop. Providing exceptional customer service is a priority for Sarah and we all should strive to do the same, starting with greeting customers as soon as they come in. If you're not sure of the answer, take a message with name and phone number, find out the answer and call the customer.
