We apologize for sending a second newsletter so quickly but had some mistakes so have made the edits. Happy Saturday!
Visit the A Gathering of Artists this weekend at the Clubhouse of Briarcliff Woods Beach Club. Pogo will be there representing Intown Quilters Fabric & Yarn and herself, selling some finished quilts and other projects there, alongside some talented local artists/crafters.
It's always fun to be at the shop this time of year, seeing our regulars here planning gifts and seeing our out-of-town customers who stop in while they're here visiting and even some here picking out what they themselves would like for holiday gifts. We've picked out some fantastic items for this year's IQF&Y Holiday Gift Guide to make gift-giving even easier. Is there something on your wish list that you don't see below or in the shop? Give us a call and we'll see if it's something we can order for you!
Are you ready to get in some crafting time before the year ends? Don't miss our December class line up (and be sure to look ahead to what we've already got scheduled in January):
* Knitted Baby Socks for Beginners with Lennye Starr-Bruce
* Quilting Studio with Patty Murphy
* Sewing Studio with Mary Abreu
* Paper Piecing Club with Wanda Earley
* Don't forget we offer private lessons, too! Email us if you would like some more information on private lessons and to set up times.
The Green Apricot Studio is having a food drive and Intown Quilters Fabric & Yarn wants to pitch in. If you’d like to donate some food in the spirit of giving, please bring it by IQF&Y between now and Sunday the 3rd. For every 16 oz. can/package/bag (or larger) of food you bring in (of course Sarah thinks you should bring healthy stuff and not food with lots of additives) you will get your choice of 1% off that day (so 10 cans is 10% off) or 10 points added to your account (so 10 cans is 100 points) to go towards discounts later on when you want to use a discount. Help us help others with some yummy food!
How Square Are You? Taffy has a "scrap" problem. How many 2-1/2" squares are in this jar? Submit your guess. Closest guess wins a $25 IQF&Y gift certificate. Contest runs through Friday, Dec. 22. Squares will be counted Saturday, Dec. 23.
Sarah & the IQF&Y crew
P.S. Don't forget Intown Quilters Fabric & Yarn is closed on Wednesdays!

Thursday Sit & Knit
Thursdays 10 am-2 pm
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting. (We recommend bringing a snack so you can pop downstairs for a quick bit to stay energized for a full day of stitching.)
Learn to Knit
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit. Just reserve your spot for only $5 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. We've found tis is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. We are happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Email us to let us know your wishes.

|Golden Days Block of the Month
IQF&Y will be running the 2018 Golden Days block of the month designed by Jen Kingwell. We have committed to the program and will start ours in the Spring along with the other shops offering it. We are still working out the details of our program (Jen has not finished her quilt and suggested waiting a little longer for her to be sure of everything) and should have it up for registration in the next few weeks. If you have not already emailed is to let us know you was to be on the special announcement list for Golden Days and you are interested, then shoot us an email to get in on the first option to register.
Paper Piecing Club
Come join our paper piecing teacher Wanda Earley as she leads a monthly paper piece sit-and-sew club. We will get together and work on foundation paper pieced projects. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on the 1st Tuesday of the month. The club is $20/month.
Long Time Gone
Finished quilt size: ~66" x67"
Meets the second Saturday of the month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. starting April 8, 2017
Long Time Gone is one of our favorite patterns from Jen Kingwell’s October 2016 Quilt Market release and we’re excited to offer it as a Block-of-the-Month program in 2017! Jen’s penchant for scrappy quilt blocks arranged in unconventional settings have been a hit here at IQ and we think Long Time Gone will quickly be a must-sew quilt for you. This machine-pieced quilt includes a variety of scrappy blocks, mixing bold prints with low-volume background fabrics.
Sandy Stites will lead this group, which will meet on the second Saturday of the month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. starting April 8, 2017. Each month, participants will receive tips for creating that month’s block(s).
By Hand-the Art of Slow Quilting
Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating. When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing. We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 3rd Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. $5 per month.
