Wow, this weather event took many of us by surprise. The last time we had this kind of snow event at this point in December was 1989 and before that was 1971. It is rare and many of us don't believe it will really happen even when they say it is coming.....but it is here!
IQF&Y is open today for now, for you to come in and stock up on your way home. We may close early (before dark for safer driving home), depending on how things look later in the day, so make sure to call us before you come and check our Facebook or Instagram pages for last minute updates. I imagine we will have to be closed on Saturday morning, as they are saying there may be black ice, but again, check our social media pages to see the most current information. We will do our best to be open in the middle of the day for a few hours but will probably also close tomorrow before dark to make getting home safer for the employees.
Mary Lou Mojonnier will not be at the shop for our Friday morning hand-piecing sit-n-stitch session. You are welcome to come in but just know that she will not be there with you.
If you decide to come see us today, you can be among the first to check out some great new plaid flannels, and Andover metallic prints, plus you'll be able to snap up some Robert Kaufman Essex in the steel gray color that we just got back in stock. We have also just restocked some knitting needles and crochet hooks.

We've had a blast with Delilah, Jen Kingwell's 2017 template-of-the-month quilt program, so we immediately signed up for her 2018 program, Golden Days. Golden Days features laser-cut acrylic and mylar templates. Participants receive the templates and block instructions each month over the course of a year. As you know form last year, every shop has limited spots for this program (which begins in March 2018), so don't wait too long to sign up. Read all the details and sign up here.
It's no secret that we love all things Kaffe Fassett, so we're gearing up for the Kaffe Fassett Mystery Quilt program for 2018. The 10-month program starts in March and you'll have your choice of two fabric colorways: Light or Dark. Read all the details and sign up here.

You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit. Just reserve your spot for only $5 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. We've found tis is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. We are happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Paper Piecing & More Club
Come join our paper piecing teacher Wanda Earley as she leads a monthly paper piece sit-and-sew club. We will get together and work on foundation paper pieced projects. Long Time Gone
Finished quilt size: ~66" x67"
Meets the second Saturday of the month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. starting April 8, 2017
Long Time Gone is one of our favorite patterns from Jen Kingwell’s October 2016 Quilt Market release and we’re excited to offer it as a Block-of-the-Month program in 2017! Jen’s penchant for scrappy quilt blocks arranged in unconventional settings have been a hit here at IQ and we think Long Time Gone will quickly be a must-sew quilt for you. This machine-pieced quilt includes a variety of scrappy blocks, mixing bold prints with low-volume background fabrics.
Sandy Stites will lead this group, which will meet on the second Saturday of the month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. starting April 8, 2017. Each month, participants will receive tips for creating that month’s block(s).
By Hand-the Art of Slow Quilting
Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating. When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing. We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 3rd Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. $5 per month.
