Dec. 20, 2017

There's still time to finish those last-minute handmade gifts or pick up something for the crafter in your life -- and we're here to help! Intown Quilters Fabric & Yarn is open regular hours Thursday-Saturday (don't forget, we are closed today), 12/21-12/23 and 1-4 p.m. Sunday, 12/24 aka Christmas Eve. Stop by and let our expert elves help you check off everything on your list. We've even set up a gift wrapping station in the shop so you can shop, wrap and go and have some cute shopping bags that can be used as a gift bag!

We can mail gift certificates for you all the way through Friday although we cannot promise they will arrive on time. We can even create a digital gift certificate that you can email for a last minute gift if you get your order in by 6 AM 12/25 (we won't promise to have it emailed to you before 10 AM).

Please note that IQF&Y will be closed Monday, 12/25, through Wednesday, 12/27, for the Christmas holiday.

We're having lots of fun plotting possible projects with the newest arrivals of Jen Kingwell's fabrics from Moda. Circulus and Lollies Sweetie are bright and fun -- just like our favorite "Patchwork Wonder from Down Under." We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of Jen's other line, Behind the Scenes Wovens, which have been delayed by the manufacturer. You can preorder a fat quarter bundle for Behind the Scenes Wovens and check our site for the yardage in the next few weeks. Rest assured, if you already preordered a bundle or asked us to let you know when the fabric arrives, you'll be among the first to hear the news!

The cooler weather seems to inspire us to pick up a new knitting or crocheting project and we've got some beautiful new yarn kits for inspiration. We've restocked the sport weight cashmere Fun Size braids from Lux Adorna Knits as well as the Fair Isle Boxes of Itty Bitties. Patterns are included for each! We've also added Feza's beautiful Baby Gradient kits. Each kit includes four pre-wound yarns in shades ranging from light to dark and the kits include a pattern for the Baby Gradient Blanket. Angela Gubler of The Green Apricot Studio, will be leading a Knit-Along using the Feza Baby Gradient kids, beginning 1/20/2018. Check out our IG and FB pages for more details.

     Happy stitching,

Knitting/Crocheting Classes

Thursday Sit & Knit

Thursdays 10 am-2 pm
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting. (We recommend bringing a snack so you can pop downstairs for a quick bit to stay energized for a full day of stitching.)

Learn to Knit
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit. Just reserve your spot for only $5 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. We've found tis is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. We are happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Email us to let us know your wishes.

Beginning Crochet
Saturday, 1/13/18, 3-4:30 pm $15
Learn the basic crochet stitch and practice your stitches! Get tips on holding the hook and basic crochet terminology. Taught by Pogo Grant.

BLOCK-OF-THE-MONTH QUILTS/CLUBS

We're looking forward to a fun year of quilting with friends in our 2018 programs: Kim McLean's Salute to Levens Hall, Urban Owls by Wendy Williams, Jen Kingwell's Golden Days and the Kaffe Mystery Quilt!

Salute to Levens Hall
Salute to Levens Hall kicks off the first Saturday in January. It is an English paper-pieced quilt and Mary Lou Mojonnier will be leading the monthly meetings for this 12-month stitch along. Read all the details and sign up here and order your Salute to Levens Hall supplies here.

Golden Days Block of the Month
We've had a blast with Delilah, Jen Kingwell's 2017 template-of-the-month quilt program, so we immediately signed up for her 2018 program, Golden Days. Golden Days features laser-cut acrylic and mylar templates. Participants receive the templates and block instructions each month over the course of a year. As you know form last year, every shop has limited spots for this program (which begins in March 2018), so don't wait too long to sign up. Read all the details and sign up here.

Paper Piecing & More Club

Come join our paper piecing teacher Wanda Earley as she leads a monthly paper piece sit-and-sew club. We will get together and work on foundation paper pieced projects. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on the 1st Tuesday of the month. The club is $20/month.

Join Wanda Earley on her journey through the Urban Owls quilt designed by Australian pattern designer, Wendy Williams, starting the first Tuesday in January. Urban Owls mixes together a variety of techniques, including foundation paper-piecing, appliqué, machine piecing and there's even room to embellish with embroidery or crazy quilt style stitching. Read all the details and sign up here and pre-order your Urban Owls pattern here.

Kaffe Fassett Mystery Quilt
It's no secret that we love all things Kaffe Fassett, so we're gearing up for the Kaffe Fassett Mystery Quilt program for 2018. The 10-month program starts in March and you'll have your choice of two fabric colorways: Light or Dark. Read all the details and sign up here.

By Hand-the Art of Slow Quilting
Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating. When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing. We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 3rd Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. $5 per month.

COUPONS
We have our IQ loyalty program, which is good for 20% off all regularly priced merchandise. Since launching our new computerized point-of-sale system, we are changing from paper cards to an electronic rewards system. No more forgetting your cards at home! We are happy to add your existing IQ cards to our system; just bring them in with your name and email address written on them.

We do occasionally give out coupons during shop hop and other special events like quilt shows. Coupons cannot be used on special orders or sale items, cannot be combined and there are no rain checks.
