Inside IQ 12/30

Inside IQ: A Newsletter for the IQ Crew

Dec. 30, 2017

Hi All,

This is the last Inside IQ of 2017. Happy New Year to you!

There is a sale going on today and tomorrow at the shop. Then we will be closed Monday and will open up Tuesday. at 9:30 am. If you are scheduled then, please come at 9am.

Dalton counted the storage room today and any yarn that is downstairs. We will then count upstairs while we are open next week. We don't plan to count all the folds on bolts so we should be able to do the counting pretty quickly.

We will be implementing new "Winter Hours" at the shop starting when we open on Tuesday 1/2. My thought is that these will be mostly permanent hour changes but calling it "Winter" allows for an evaluation and change later in the year if we think that is necessary. We are opening earlier and closing earlier to take advantage of the daylight hours and the times of the day the traffic is a little less for the customers.

The new schedule is below so when you see your name on a shift, plan to be there 30 min before morning for opening and 30 min after afternoon for closing. We will get new scheduled pages made up soon but for now they say the old times and you just have to adjust that on your calendars. Ask me or Mary if you are unsure.

Monday will be our new closed day.
Tuesday 9:30 to 8pm shifts will be 9-2 and 1:30 to 8:30
Wed-Sat 9:30am to 5pm. shifts 9-2 and 1-5:30

Sunday noon-4 so the shift will be 11:30-4:30.  Staff should plan to work a 30 minutes later on beginning quilt making Sundays to do the cleaning up after the students leave so those days the employee shift will be 11:30-5pm.

Why Monday? A few reasons. We have heard from quite a few customers that they are in our area on Wednesdays and because there are several holidays on Mondays which makes it awkward to be closed on a Monday, then open on Tuesday and then be closed again on Wednesday. So....we are switching to Monday. I thought about going back to 7 days a week but Kay and Mary (the only two who responded to my last email) expressed really liking having one day they they know they can fit in other things (although Mary will work form home sometimes on Monday) and I really like having one day to week day to work on bookkeeping and not worry about coming into the shop. I am guessing nobody else had strong opinions on anything since no replies. If you do have opinions and did not express them before, keep them to yourself now because it is done! Try to be positive with customers if they complain about the changes.

Have a good rest of the weekend!
