Intown Quilters Fabric and Yarn is now a web store only with fast shipping!

Jan. 15, 2018

Wow, 2018 has kicked off with a vengeance! We have had some crazy weather, some very busy days and lots of new merchandise to check in along with still counting all our inventory for the dreaded inventory tax. Don't forget we are Closed Today since it is a Monday and we are now closed on Mondays! Read the rest of our new Winter Hours below,

We heard from FreeSpirit Fabrics that the Kaffe Fassett Mystery Quilt program is sold out for the moment. They have created a new pastel color-way that they expect will sell out quickly. We committed to 10 of this color-way, so let us know if you might like to switch to the pastel color-way or sign up for it with an email here

Our deadline for finalizing this year's Golden Days order is upon us. If you have not yet signed up but are planning to, just let us know. Then we can make sure we have enough templates for everyone who wants to make Golden Days with IQF&Y this year! We sold out of our Delilah spots last year and had to tell more than a few disappointed quilters that news, so don't wait until the very last minute to sign up for Golden Days, as you might miss out on taking part in this great quilt from Jen Kingwell. We don't want you to miss out!

Apparently the country is on the verge of a flu epidemic. We are hearing about so many people we know that are or have been sick recently. We ask that you please stay home if you are sick and take care of yourself (and us). If you are sick, we hope you feel better soon!

Carolyn Friedlander fans won't want to miss her latest line, Gleaned. This 24-piece collection for Robert Kaufman Fabrics is a mix of patterns and textures "Gleaned" from nature.

Join our new IQF&Y Inspiration Facebook group and be a part of our growing community of crafters! Share your work and be inspired by others. You can check out what folks are making for their Salute to Levens Hall quilts, as well as photos from all kinds of other projects.

We've already scheduled some great year-long quilt programs this year, including The Salute to Levens Hall EPP quilt and Jen Kingwell's Golden Days plus Wendy Williams' Urban Owls. We also are looking into a more "modern" block of the month possibly made with solids. Please let us know if you would be interested one by e-mailing us. A block-of-the-month program is a great way to approach making a quilt!

Knitting/Crocheting Classes

Thursday Sit & Knit

Thursdays 10 am-2 pm
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting. (We recommend bringing a snack so you can pop downstairs for a quick bit to stay energized for a full day of stitching.)

Learn to Knit
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit. Just reserve your spot for only $5 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. We've found tis is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. We are happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Email us to let us know your wishes.

Knitted Sock for Beginners

Some experience with knitting in the round is helpful but not required. Taught by Leslie Piper.

We're looking forward to a fun year of quilting with friends in our 2018 programs: Kim McLean's Salute to Levens Hall, Urban Owls by Wendy Williams, Jen Kingwell's Golden Days and the Kaffe Mystery Quilt!

Salute to Levens Hall
Salute to Levens Hall kicks off the first Saturday in January. It is an English paper-pieced quilt and Mary Lou Mojonnier will be leading the monthly meetings for this 12-month stitch along. Read all the details and sign up here and order your Salute to Levens Hall supplies here.

Golden Days Block of the Month
We've had a blast with Delilah, Jen Kingwell's 2017 template-of-the-month quilt program, so we immediately signed up for her 2018 program, Golden Days. Golden Days features laser-cut acrylic and mylar templates. Participants receive the templates and block instructions each month over the course of a year. As you know form last year, every shop has limited spots for this program (which begins in March 2018), so don't wait too long to sign up. Read all the details and sign up here.

Paper Piecing & More Club

Come join our paper piecing teacher Wanda Earley as she leads a monthly paper piece sit-and-sew club. We will get together and work on foundation paper pieced projects. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet from 4:30-7:30 p.m. on the 1st Tuesday of the month. The club is $20/month.

Join Wanda Earley on her journey through the Urban Owls quilt designed by Australian pattern designer, Wendy Williams, starting the first Tuesday in January. Urban Owls mixes together a variety of techniques, including foundation paper-piecing, appliqué, machine piecing and there's even room to embellish with embroidery or crazy quilt style stitching. Read all the details and sign up here and order (excluded from the end-of-year sale) your Urban Owls pattern here.

By Hand-the Art of Slow Quilting
Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating. When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing. We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 3rd Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. $5 per month.

We have our IQ loyalty program, which is good for 20% off all regularly priced merchandise. Since launching our new computerized point-of-sale system, we are changing from paper cards to an electronic rewards system. No more forgetting your cards at home! We are happy to add your existing IQ cards to our system; just bring them in with your name and email address written on them.

We do occasionally give out coupons during shop hop and other special events like quilt shows. Coupons cannot be used on special orders or sale items, cannot be combined and there are no rain checks.
