Join us for the inaugural Local Yarn Store Day this Saturday, 4/21! We're holding special Cast on to Knit and Beginning Crochet classes that day with materials included (yarn and needles/hooks) to help you get started with your new hobby! Try out our yarns including our new Anzula and Knitted Wit with all-day yarn tastings. We'll be demoing Tunisian Crochet at 11 a.m. and Crocheted Edging at noon. We also have a special Saturday Sit-and-Knit session from 1-3 p.m. hosted by Allison Adams of the Yarn and Yoga Collective. We've got goodie bags for the first 20 yarn customers of the day, a drawing for a $25 Gift Certificate to the store, plus our new knitted Dots and Stripes Cowl pattern will be free all day long!
We're big fans of Jen Kingwell's patterns and fabrics, so there may have been an unprecedented amount of oohing and aahing when her newest line with Moda arrived. Beach Road is quintessential Jen: fun prints, beautiful colors and delightfully whimsical. It's great when paired with her Circulus, Lollies Sweeties and Behind the Scenes fabrics, too!
Batik fabric lovers, rejoice! The newest Tonga line of batiks from Timeless Treasures has arrived. Unicorn is a sweet pastel range of batiks with fun names like Princess, Sparkle, Magic and Believe. The pieces work perfectly together and would make an amazing quilt, even if unicorns aren't your thing.
Lots of great classes are starting soon, including:

* Beginning to Crochet
* Quilt Studio
* Quiltmaking 102
* Beginning Quiltmaking

Do you have a quilt you'd like to get started on but feel just a little intimidated about jumping in? What about one you'd like to get finished but can't figure out exactly what the pattern is telling you, or can't find the time to make yourself get it done? Quilt Studio might be the class you need! Six hours of help from an accomplished and knowledgeable teacher. Bring your pattern/project and let Sarah Oliver (one of our Beginning Quilt Making instructors) help you get started, motivated or finished. Students in this class should have some experience piecing a quilt and a familiarity with the skills involved, including but not limited to using a rotary cutter and ruler, reading a pattern, etc.

Thursday Sit & Knit
Thursdays 10 am-2 pm
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting. (We recommend bringing a snack so you can pop downstairs for a quick bit to stay energized for a full day of stitching.)

Our Sunday Knit-along started to support our customer's Dr. Who Scarf Knitting project! Grab your yarn and needles to work on your own Dr. Who Scarf or another knitting project. Our "Secret Sweater Stitching Society*" will be there on the fourth Sunday of the month, too. (*It's not really a secret.)
Learn to Knit
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit. Just reserve your spot for only $5 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. We've found tis is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. We are happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Email us to let us know your wishes.
| We have our IQ loyalty program, which is good for 20% off all regularly priced merchandise. Since launching our new computerized point-of-sale system, we are changing from paper cards to an electronic rewards system. No more forgetting your cards at home! We are happy to add your existing IQ cards to our system; just bring them in with your name and email address written on them.
We do occasionally give out coupons during shop hop and other special events like quilt shows. Coupons cannot be used on special orders or sale items, cannot be combined and there are no rain checks.
