This 4-hour course covers all the basics to get you sewing. You’ll learn the parts of a sewing machine, how to thread it (including how to wind a bobbin), sewing terminology, essential tools, how to read a pattern and more. Machine Quilting I: An Introduction

This is a hands-on class to introduce the basics of machine quilting. You will learn several types of machine quilting: straight stitch, in the ditch, and a bit of free motion. This class fills up quickly so don’t hesitate! Learn to make a lap size quilt from beginning to end. In this class, the intimidation of quilting will be eliminated. You will be taught many techniques, such as cutting, strip piecing, seam allowance, pin-basting, quilting, binding and more. The class is taught in 4 sessions (4 hours each) and requires homework and a sewing machine, although we do have two sewing machines you can reserve to use in the shop for class with a $25 deposit that will be returned to you when the classes are done. The Quick Curve Ruler is a great tool for cutting and piecing curves for quilt blocks. Learn how to use it as you make blocks for the Metro Twist quilt by Sew Kind of Wonderful.
