Sept. 24, 2018

    Happy Monday to you!

We have had two openings in the Color Confidence class taught by Shannon Brinkley this Wednesday and we have a few spots left in each of her Scrappy Applique classes on Thursday and Friday.

In Shannon's Color Confidence class you will learn about color theory, exploring classic color palettes and how to build them, and go through several exercises that will literally train our eyes to distinguish subtle differences in color, value, and saturation. You’ll also learn how to mix and match prints, playing with color and scale to create totally unique and beautiful looks. This a great class for those who would love a color theory class geared towards our craft, especially those a little unsure of their color sense.

In Scrappy Appliqué you will learn Shannon Brinkley's signature "scrappy appliqué" technique and explore several creative appliqué finishing options, including Shannon’s Faux-Needleturn technique, no-fray raw-edge appliqué, finishing appliqué edges with hand or machine embroidery, and her fun "Peek-a-boo" Reverse appliqué method.

You can see the details of the Color Confidence class and the Scrappy Applique classes by clicking on the names of the classes above.

Have you noticed our new line of XCVI clothing at IQF&Y? Back in July we started carrying some great ruched (figure flattering) Jetter leggings to wear with those tunics we love to make at the shop. In August we added in some yoga type French terry pants and two colors of a nice lightweight Agnese jacket and some micro corduroy Oslo leggings. This week we got in three new colors of the Jetter leggings including more of the sold-out black leggings and some 1X and 2X in a beautiful dark blue and in black. Come check them out as additions to your fall wardrobe and don't forget we have a Wardrobe Sewing class coming up for sewing cute tops to go with the leggings.

Did you miss out on the 2018 Kaffe Fassett Mystery Quilt? You're in luck! We've just received a shipment of both Pastel and Dark colorways of the Mystery Quilt. These are "catch up" kits: They include all the fabric and block patterns that have been released so far (March-August) and you'll receive the remaining blocks each month until the end of the program, starting in September. We've just got a couple left of each -- get them while you can! (And, yes, we can ship!)

Ready to learn something new and crafty? Check out our calendar for all the class opportunities at IQF&Y! We also have several teachers who can schedule private lessons for sewing, quilting, knitting and crochet. Email us for more information.

Please note: We have added a $1 charge for all our Sit & Knit sessions so that we may be able to collect a list of who will be coming ahead of time (the system won't let us take sign-ups for free) and that way we can let you know if something happens to prevent us having a teacher therePlease do register for the specific session you want to come to, to let us know if you will be joining.

Learn to Knit
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit. Just reserve your spot for only $5 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. We've found it is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. We are happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Email us to let us know your wishes.
