Oct. 25, 2018

It's that time of year when we're all readying for the holiday gift-giving season and we'd love to help you get a jump start on your gift list. We've emptied our storage areas to bring you a bevy of handmade samples -- quilts, bags, clothing and more -- to offer up to you at great low prices (so many are priced at $50). It's the perfect way to find a one-of-a-kind handmade gift for your loved-ones, or maybe even yourself. Our handmade sample sale starts today and continues through Sunday, 10/28/18. Please pass this on to your non-crafty friends and family, too!

We've had a blast moving around things at the shop lately. If you haven't stopped by to see for yourself, be sure to check out our new wall of knitting needles and crochet hooks. That's right -- we've made it easier than ever to grab what you need for your knitting and crocheting projects! They're within easy reach of our yarn and yarn-related patterns, too.

As we head toward the end of 2018, we thought it would be good to remind you of our end-of-year restocking strategy to help you plan your notions purchases. The closer we get to the new year, the fewer products we bring into the shop to not only reduce the number of things we have to count during year-end inventory but to lower our inventory tax liability (yes we have to pay a tax on everything we have purchased in the shop, similar to a house property tax). This is the reason it appears we are out of things towards the end of the year. It's a strategy many businesses use because it is a huge chore to count everything in the shop and then painful to pay a tax on it all. If you think you're going to need thread and other notions for projects toward the end of the year, it's a good idea to stock up early. We will order items for you as you request them (with our normal pink sheet ordering system) but note that it takes about 5 business days to get them into the shop for you, so try to plan out what you need and let us know what you need if we do not have it in stock.

Batting is another product that we do not bring much extra in towards the end of the year so if batting is on your list of "must need" products for gifts you're making or planning, then you're in luck! We decided the best way to make sure we have the batting you need is to have you pre-order it so we can have our order more tailored to what you need. You can order online and we will ship it to you when it comes in or hold it here for pick up -- just select the "pick up in store" option when you check out on our website. Of course you are welcome to come see us and place your order in person in the shop! Batting pre-orders must be placed by midnight on Monday, 10/29/18. Please allow 7-10 days for your order to be ready for pick up/shipping.

We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. We are happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Email us to let us know your wishes.
