Dec. 7, 2018

The chill in the air goes hand in hand with December and it certainly makes us happy to be quilters and knitters/crocheters. What a great time of year to be able to snuggle up with something warm that we've made! While many of the IQF&Y crew (including me) are working on handmade gifts for our family and friends, we also are thinking of the projects we'll pick up once we're done. We've got lots of things in store to provide inspiration, whether you're looking for a gift or a treat for yourself.

We wanted to share the love this December to show you how much we appreciate you shopping with us over the holiday season, so we're giving you a little holiday cheer to use in the New Year! You'll scratch off one snowball when you bring it back to the store in 2019. Holiday cheer cards given with every in-store purchase over $25, while supplies last. Limit one cheer card per customer. Remember not to scratch off before bringing it into the store 1/1-1/31/19!

Debbie Maddy has done it again! We loved her first two shibori-inspired fabric lines for Moda and her new Machi collection is even better. The line includes 26 pieces of not only quilting cottons but 54" wide cotton lawns and rayons. We've gotten in several quilt patterns that really show off these fabrics, too. They're great to use with the Machi pre-cuts, which will be in stock next week. We ordered just a few Layer Cakes, Jelly Rolls and charm packs that are on the website for pre-order -- grab them while you can!

Ready to tackle a new knitting project with friends? Join our Rudbeckia Hat knit along (KAL)! This is a great pattern for playing with texture and color (and the perfect time of year for casting on something warm). It calls for two colors of sport or DK weight yarn and we've pulled together some fun yarn kits with our Sugarbush Crisp yarn. To qualify for prize(s), all projects must be cast on, with yarn bought at IQF&Y, on or after Dec. 1, 2018, and posted in the FO thread in our Ravelry group by Jan. 30, 2019.

Our holiday gift sewing series comes to a close this weekend but you still have time to sign up for the last class. Join Chrissy Weeks this Sunday to learn how to make the Snappy Little Wallet, which is great for holding your essentials or even using as a gift card holder.

Interested in a one-on-one craft learning experience? We also have several teachers who can schedule private lessons for sewing, quilting, knitting and crochet. Email us for more information.

How Square Are You? Taffy has a "scrap" problem. How many 2" squares are in this jar? Submit your guess when you shop with us. Closest guess wins a $25 IQF&Y gift certificate. Contest runs through Friday, Dec. 21. Squares will be counted Saturday, Dec. 22.

     Happy stitching,

     Sarah & the IQF&Y crew!

Class price includes Snappy Little Wallet pattern, interfacing and snap.

Knitting/Crocheting Classes

Please note: We have added a $1 charge for all our Sit & Knit sessions so that we may be able to collect a list of who will be coming ahead of time (the system won't let us take sign-ups for free) and that way we can let you know if something happens to prevent us having a teacher there. Please do register for the specific session you want to come to, to let us know if you will be joining.

Tuesday evening Sit & Stitch (Yarn)
Every Tuesday, 5-8 pm $1
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! Crocheters are welcome, too! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting. Please sign up to let us know you will be at the sit & knit.

Thursday Sit & Stitch (Yarn)
Thursdays, 10 am-1 pm $1
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! Crocheters are welcome, too! Saturday Sit & Stitch (Yarn)
Every other Saturday, 10 am-1 pm (next date: 12/1/2018) $1
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! Crocheters are welcome, too! Knitting Studio
Sundays, 12/16 & 12/30/18, 3-4:30 pm $45
Do you have a knitting project you'd like to get started on but feel just a little intimidated about jumping in? What about one you'd like to get finished but can't figure out exactly what the pattern is telling you, or can't find the time to make yourself get it done? Knitting Studio might be the class you need! Three hours of help (split into two 90 minute sessions) from an accomplished and knowledgeable teacher. Bring your pattern/project and let Allison Adams help you get started, motivated or finished.

Sweater Knit-along
Sunday, 11/25/18 (more dates to come), 1-4 pm
Join our "Secret Sweater Stitching Society*" on the fourth Sunday of the month to hang out with other sweater knitters! (*It's not really a secret.)

Learn to Knit
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit. Just reserve your spot for only $5 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. We've found it is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. We are happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Email us to let us know your wishes.

COUPONS
We have our IQ loyalty program, which is good for 20% off all regularly priced merchandise. Since launching our new computerized point-of-sale system, we are changing from paper cards to an electronic rewards system. No more forgetting your cards at home! We are happy to add your existing IQ cards to our system; just bring them in with your name and email address written on them.

We do occasionally give out coupons during shop hop and other special events like quilt shows. Coupons cannot be used on special orders or sale items, cannot be combined and there are no rain checks.
