Jan. 4, 2019

There's just something about the new year and the feeling of a fresh start that comes with it. It's a great time to make plans, especially after all the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Whether you're ready to cast on something new for you or start cutting that bucket list quilt, the crew at IQF&Y is here to help you make that a reality. What are you working on? Share your projects to our Facebook page, our FB or Ravelry groups or tag us on Instagram!

We welcomed the new year at the shop with the unboxing of more fun things to share with you. Mary kicked things off with a Facebook Live to show off the newest fabrics from Robert Kaufman: more of our favorite Effervescence fabrics, including wide backings. Effervescence is one of those go-to designs that can be anything you need, whether it's used as a border, a focal point or chopped up. We can't wait to see what you come up with!

Our shipment of Oslo corduroy leggings from Wearables by XCVI arrived a little later than expected but they are worth the wait. These are such a great full-length legging and the pinwhale cord is oh so soft. You really do have to try them on to get the full experience -- you'll be glad you did! As with some of our other leggings, these do run a little generously and you may want to size down (I wear a size smaller in these than the Jetter Crop).

An assortment of fun items landed at the shop by way of Moda Fabrics, including some gorgeous batik rayon scarves, roomy canvas tote bags and the most whimsically fun felt cuckoo clock kits. That's right -- you can make an actual working cuckoo clock out of felt! The scarves are so soft and lovely, with just the right amount of fringe. Moda's canvas tote can hold the quilt your binding or the project you're taking to retreat -- it's a great size and the handles are so sturdy.

Knitting/Crocheting Classes

Please note: We have added a $1 charge for all our Sit & Knit sessions so that we may be able to collect a list of who will be coming ahead of time (the system won't let us take sign-ups for free) and that way we can let you know if something happens to prevent us having a teacher there. Please do register for the specific session you want to come to, to let us know if you will be joining.

Tuesday evening Sit & Stitch (Yarn)
Every Tuesday, 5-8 pm $1
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! Crocheters are welcome, too! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting. Please sign up to let us know you will be at the sit & knit.

Thursday Sit & Stitch (Yarn)

Knitting 101
Thursday, 1/24/19, noon-1:30 pm $40
Ready to learn how to knit or just need a refresher? Our Knitting 101 class is just what you need! We'll cover the long-tail cast on plus the knit stitch and talk about choosing needles and yarn, continental vs English and beginner projects to tackle. Class fee includes yarn and knitting needles.

Knitting 101 by reservation
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit. Just reserve your spot for $40 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. Yarn and knitting needles included! We've found it is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the session. We are also happy to set up a class for you though or private lessons that work better for your schedule. Email us to let us know your wishes.

COUPONS
We have our IQ loyalty program, which is good for 20% off all regularly priced merchandise. Since launching our new computerized point-of-sale system, we are changing from paper cards to an electronic rewards system. No more forgetting your cards at home! We are happy to add your existing IQ cards to our system; just bring them in with your name and email address written on them.

We do occasionally give out coupons during shop hop and other special events like quilt shows. Coupons cannot be used on special orders or sale items, cannot be combined and there are no rain checks.
