May 7, 2019

Show Mom your love this Mother's Day with a handmade gift from the heart! We've got some great last-minute gift ideas, from the popular Hot Stuff Oven Mitt to the Maker's Tote to our Kantha-stitched indigo throws. Don't forget that our IQF&Y gift certificates are available in any denomination and make the perfect one-size-fits-all gift for crafty moms.

Treat yourself to some dedicated wardrobe sewing time this month with our upcoming #MeMadeMay Sew Days! Bring your machine and supplies for a fun day (or evening) of sewing in our spacious classroom, away from the distractions of home. Mary whipped up a couple of the Closet Case Patterns Kalle tunics recently using some of our Machi lawn and Lecien double gauze. They're great paired with our Jetter leggings!

Some of our favorite Moda fabrics have been those from Brigitte Heitland of Zen Chic and her newest line is no exception. Day in Paris is a flirty, mid-century mod style line, filled with color and unexpected pops of metallic. Live la vie en rose ... and blue, teal and gray! The fabrics are just so fun and begging to be cut up for quilts, clothes and bags.

Most folks learn how to knit socks from the top (cuff) down but there are advantages to working toe up, including no picking up gusset stitches and being able to check the fit as you go. Our upcoming sock class will not only get you going on knitting socks from the toe up but also knitting two at a time using the Magic Loop method (which is really not as mysterious as it sounds). You can even work on your socks in between classes during one of our sit-and-knits!

We are excited to have Casey Green coming back to teach her popular Fabric Painting & Dyeing class here at IQF&Y! Casey is a talented textile artist and her class fills up each time we offer it, so don't miss out on your chance to spend a day with her. Learn how to use different types of  It's like art camp for adults!

We've got some great classes coming up soon, whether you want to learn how to crochetexplore quilt design software or just spend some time knocking out your UFOs. Register now for these classes (scroll down to the Classes section for more information):

KAFFETASTIC QUILTALONG

The Kaffetastic Rainbow Star Quilt Along will be kicking off early next month. We only have a few kits left. Click here to see the detailed list of the fabrics included in the Bold or Sunset kits that you can use in any way you choose. You can make the quilts shown here, or you can design your own quilt with the fabric. We also have a few ideas for some other kits we can put together for you like a mixture of Tula Pink fabric or maybe a Jen Kingwell version and even batiks would make a great quilt.

There will be weekly Sunday sewing days to help you make regular progress with the goal of finishing a quilt top (or two) this summer. We plan to try to have a day to cut out your fabric on June 2nd, too, so you can be ready to sew when the QAL kicks off the following week.

Participants who purchase a kit from us get some great swag (while supplies last) and a discount on all Kaffe Fassett (or whatever type of fabric you choose for your alternate kit) products for the duration of the QAL, as well as weekly finisher prizes.
Pre-order your kit now! Come see us or call us to discuss alternate fabric options.

Knitting 101 by reservation
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit or we can set up a time that works better for your schedule. Just reserve your spot for $40 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. Yarn and knitting needles included! We've found it is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the session. If you would like to set up a private one-on-one, sign up online and then email us to let us know what dates work for you.

COUPONS
Our IQF&Y loyalty program earns you points towards a 20% off reward good on all in-stock, regularly price merchandise. Best of all, it's all done electronically -- no more paper cards to keep up with! Still have one of our old paper IQ cards? We are happy to add your existing IQ cards to our system; just bring them in with your name and email address written on them.

We do occasionally give out coupons during shop hop and other special events like quilt shows. Coupons cannot be used on special orders or sale items, cannot be combined and there are no rain checks.
