June 4, 2019

We're taking IQF&Y on the road and heading to Cobb County this week to take part in Georgia Celebrates Quilts, the East Cobb Quilters' Guild 17th Biennial Quilt Show. This is a can't-miss event, filled with inspiring and amazing quilts made by local quilters. Be sure to head upstairs to the vendor marketplace while you are at the show to visit us at Booth 9. Run by the shop on your way to the show to get a coupon (only a limited number are available) you can use in our booth. The show takes place from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily (Thursday-Saturday) at the Cobb County Civic Center.

This year's Christmas fabrics have started to arrive, which always seems a little strange since summer has yet to officially begin. Of course, it does give you plenty of time to pick out and make a fun project you can enjoy in the weeks leading up to the holiday. We just couldn't resist the newest lines from Quilting Treasures. Santa's List features a fantastic 1-yard panel that would make a fast quilt that anyone would cherish. It's full of traditional colors and themes. Happy Christmas is a whimsical line with cute snowmen and Santas plus bright coordinating prints.

CLASSES

 Quilting/Sewing Classes

Sit & Stitch (Fabric)
Fridays, 11 am-1 pm
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some quilt piecing by hand fun with friends! (We recommend bringing a snack so you can pop downstairs for a quick bite to stay energized for a full day of stitching.)

Open Sew
Weekdays (check Calendar for availability), 10 am-4 pm $10
Bring your machine and supplies to our classroom space and work on your sewing and quilting projects.

English Paper-Piecing Club
First Saturday of the month (next date 7/6/19), 9:30 am-1 pm $15
Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. English paper piecing is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating. This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 1st Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. $90 for the year or $15 per month if you would like to pay monthly.

Magic Pillowcase
Friday, 6/7/19, 9:30-11 am, $15
Craft a quick, personalized pillowcase in just an hour. Makes a great gift for anyone on your list! Taught by IQ staff.

Boxer/PJ Shorts
Sunday, 6/9/2019, noon-3 pm, $30
Make a pair of boxers of PJ shorts for you or someone else! Elastic waist for a comfortable fit. Taught by Chrissy Weeks.

Bow Tie
Tuesday, 6/11/19, noon-1:30 pm, $15
Sew a fabric bow tie for yourself or to give someone else. It's a great small project that can be personalized in so many ways. $1 supply fee for bow tie hardware payable to teacher on day of class. Taught by Kristie Fields.

UFO Sew Day
Sunday, 6/23/19, 10 am-4 pm, $20
Why not spend a day tackling those quilt UFOs that never seem to make it to the top of your to-do list? We'll have a teacher on hand from 10 am-noon to answer questions and help you get started on a quilt pattern that you're having a hard time digging into or just be a cheerleader for you to get lots accomplished and help shorten your quilting UFO list. Then you can stay and sit and sew until 4 pm, with other folks trying to get a lot done, too. The teacher will be working upstairs for those questions that pop-up after noon. Taught by Pogo Grant or Sandy Stites.

Fabric Painting & Dyeing
Saturday, 7/13/19, 10 am-4 pm, $100 date change!
Have you ever wished you had a certain fabric for a project and just could not find something that matched your vision? This class is a great way to learn how to alter fabric (you can bring an ugly piece from your stash to work on) to create a different piece that works for you. Don't miss an opportunity to learn from Casey Green, as she is so talented with this art form. She spends hours prepping the class for you and has the classroom filled with all kinds of supplies for you to play with to help you decide which supplies and processes you like the best and want to explore further. Additional $10 materials fee (cash only) paid to teacher on the day of the class. Taught by Casey Green.

Knitting 101 by reservation
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit or we can set up a time that works better for your schedule. Just reserve your spot for $40 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. Yarn and knitting needles included! We've found it is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the session. If you would like to set up a private one-on-one, sign up online and then email us to let us know what dates work for you.

COUPONS
Our IQF&Y loyalty program earns you points towards a 20% off reward good on all in-stock, regularly price merchandise. Best of all, it's all done electronically -- no more paper cards to keep up with! Still have one of our old paper IQ cards? We are happy to add your existing IQ cards to our system; just bring them in with your name and email address written on them.

We do occasionally give out coupons during shop hop and other special events like quilt shows. Coupons cannot be used on special orders or sale items, cannot be combined and there are no rain checks.
