Sept. 11, 2019

Several customers pointed out problems with the links in our Tuesday newsletter. We're sending an updated version with corrected links, in case you also had issues with classes and products.

We have had a great start to our 1 Million Pillowcase Challenge and have already collected 94 pillowcases! Help us gather fun pillowcases and pillowcase dresses to be given to local hospitals and other charities. You will receive an entry into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate for every pillow case you make and turn in at the shop. You can download free pillowcase patterns
here and sign up for our first pillowcase sewing day here. We will be scheduling more days this fall.

Thanks for helping us celebrate Pogo's birthday in style! There's still time to stop by today, Sept. 11, to wish her a Happy Birthday. Plus when you come in, you can take part in the special coupon sale she chose to mark the occasion. You 'll get to draw 3 coupons from our coupon jar and see what kind of savings you might receive in honor of Pogo's birthday!

We are getting ready for a fall Knit Along (KAL) using the Harriet's Hat pattern and Jamieson's of Shetland Wool. We have a nice selection of Jamieson's Spindrift yarns arriving at the shop next week and we already have it up for purchase on our website if you want to order your favorites for pick up/delivery as soon as it arrives. All sales of the Harriet's Hat pattern raise money for an MRI machine for Shetland, as people have had to take ferries to the mainland of Scotland to have MRIs. We are looking forward to contributing to the cause and helping folks learn to knit fair isle! Sign up for our Harriet's Hat class in October to learn all the tips and tricks of Fair Isle knitting with Sandra.

Don't miss our Anzula Cricket Sample Show at the shop! We'll have some fantastic samples made with one of our favorite Anzula yarns in store Sept. 12-23. In addition to the amazing range of Cricket colors we have in stock, you'll also be able to order whatever quantity you need of ANY of the 140 colors of Cricket during the sample show. Sandra is already working on the Doe Mesa Cowl!

Some of the folks at the shop have decided to take part in Denyse Schmidt's Freewheeling Single Girl Sew-Along starting 9/16 using her Free-Wheeling Single Girl Quilt pattern. You can start a new quilt or work on an older one if you started one and never finished it. The first week is for picking your fabrics (it is a great project to use your stash) and then the second week the piecing of the arcs begins. If you take part with us on our social media and/or sewing days, you are eligible for prizes with us and if you also register with Denyse's page here with just your name and email address, you are eligible for even more prizes.

We have scheduled some great new and repeat classes including a
Finishing Your Quilts informational session with Regina Carter, Pleated Pillow with Sarah Oliver, Brimfield Beginnings with Mary Lou Mojonnier, and Jelly Roll Rug with Mary Abreu. We are still working out dates for a few classes so watch for the newsletter next week or check the website regularly. See our class listings below for more details and click the title of the class you are interested in to go straight to each class on the website. You can also click here to go to our Class Listing page on the website to see all classes and click here to go to our Calendar page.

Our next Open Sew weekend is 9/14 & 15. It's the perfect time to grab a friend (or two or three) and enjoy a 2-day sewing retreat together. You can even leave your tools in the shop overnight! Snap up your spots for a weekend of sewing in the shop. We do have a very small charge for our open sew days to help us cover the utility bills. You will receive a 10% discount on any Open Sew day that you sign up for and attend.

Our private lessons have been a big hit so far, as they give you the opportunity for dedicated one-on-one time with one of our knowledgeable instructors to learn on your schedule. If you would like to learn to sew or quilt, get help with a technique you haven't tried before, or are stuck and need help, these private lessons could work well for you. If you would like to take a lesson with another person or two, or none of the times we have posted so far work for you, reach out to us and we can make that happen. Click here for sewing lessons and here for quilting lessons.

    Happy stitching
,
