The calendar says fall begins next week, even if the weather hasn't quite caught up with the idea. Even though all of us here at IQF&Y are far removed from our school days, we tend to look at the new season as a time to dive into learning, whether it's a new technique or a new craft. Our class calendar has an abundance of opportunities to let you delve into learning this fall, whether you quilt, sew or knit!
There's still time to take part in our One Million Pillowcase Sewing Day on Wednesday, 9/18/19. Not only will we have a teacher show you how to make one at 10:30 am, but we'll provide you with the fabric* to make one or more pillowcases as a donation to local charities (*while supplies last). You can stay all day and bring your own fabric to make more for donation or one or two of your own to take home with you. You will get 20% off any purchases you make that day and you will get an entry into a drawing for a $50 gift certificate for every pillow case you donate to the cause. The more you make, the more chances for you to win!
Join our fall Knit Along (KAL) using the Harriet's Hat pattern and Jamieson's of Shetland Wool! We even have an optional class if you've never done colorwork knitting. The class meets twice (10/12 & 10/26/19) and you can join our regular sit-and-knit sessions for extra knitting time (and assistance). Class participants receive 10% off their purchase of class supplies and the Harriet's Hat pattern is included in your class fee. You can take part in the Harriet's Hat KAL in person, online (join the discussion at our Ravelry page), or both. Just sign up on our website so you'll be eligible for our KAL finisher's prize (must purchase yarn from IQF&Y): 75 reward points towards your next 20% off coupon. The KAL will takes place 10/1-11/30/19. Kits with the original Harriet’s Hat colors are available for preorder in store and online. We're working on additional Harriet's Hat kits in different colorways, so be sure to keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram feeds to see what we pull together!
The Free-Wheeling Single Girl Sew-Along kicks off this week and our first in-store sewing day is Sunday, 9/22! Denyse Schmidt's Freewheeling Single Girl Sew-Along started 9/16 using her Free-Wheeling Single Girl Quilt pattern. You can start a new quilt or work on an older one if you started one and never finished it. The first week is for picking your fabrics (it is a great project to use your stash) and then the second week the piecing of the arcs begins. If you take part with us on our social media and/or sewing days, you are eligible for prizes with us and if you also register with Denyse's page here with just your name and email address, you are eligible for even more prizes. A few folks from the shop are planning to take part and we've even pulled together some fat quarter bundles using Kaffe and Guicy Guice fabrics plus a Ruby Star Society fabric pull.
Our class calendar gives you the chance to explore something new, whether you're ready to learn English paper piecing, make a pleated pillow or Jelly Roll Rug for your home, or create a quilted collage wall hanging. We even offer a variety of private lesson opportunities if you prefer a one-on-one experience with one of our experienced instructors!
