May 15, 2020

Can you believe it's been two months since we ramped up social distancing in response to the pandemic? We've been lucky to have the IQF&Y crew remain healthy during that time and we appreciate that you are supporting us as we continue virtual shopping for the foreseeable future. We're all in this together! If you know someone who shops with us and perhaps does not receive our emails, please pass this along since it contains important information about shopping with us and we'd hate for anyone to be out of the loop!

When you shop with us for curbside pickup, please allow us time to process and prepare your order for pick up. We know you're eager to get your items and we do our best to have them ready as soon as possible! We have a limited number of employees in the store and process transactions in the order they are received, which means it may take us a little time to get to yours. We will call you when it's ready for pick up, so please make sure the number you include with your order is correct and your voicemail box is not full. We also mark it ready for pick up in our system (in a perfect world, you will actually receive an email that lets you know it's ready). Please do not come to the shop before we've contacted you. If you have been notified your order is ready, please remain in your vehicle when you arrive at the shop. We miss getting to see you in the shop and we are doing our best to maintain safe distancing and sanitizing practices to keep our staff (and you) healthy.

We remain committed to helping our customers in the best virtual ways possible and also continue to bring in new merchandise for your fabric and yarn needs. We're at the shop today, 5/15, and tomorrow, 5/16, from
10am-2pm for curbside pickup and help via phone, text, and even FaceTime if you'd like to see some fabrics that are in the shop. We will be temporarily closed on Sundays and will let you know when that changes.

We love connecting with you via social media! Don't miss today's chance to see our Facebook Live unboxing of the newest fabric arrivals with Sarah and Pogo. They'll be kicking off the fun around 12:30pm (Eastern time), so grab your lunch and tune in for some fabric show and tell with your IQF&Y friends! You can even click the button underneath the video and invite your friends to watch, too.

Mary has been working this week to get everything ready for you to shop from the new Berroco Yarn Drop Ship section on our website! You can purchase any Berroco yarn (even types we don't carry) and Berroco will drop ship it directly to you via USPS from their warehouse in Rhode Island. Each product has a link to the Berroco site so you can see the available colors, which you will include in your note with your online order. This is a great way to get sweater quantities of yarn or try out a new yarn you've not been able to get your hands on! Please do not include in-stock items in your Drop Ship order.

Did you see Mary's FB Live video with her new leather Wrist Ruler? We've got the entire collection available for preorder in the full range of colors, so get your orders in now. We've already placed one order for these items, which are a hot seller with our vendor!

For information on making face masks, check out our
Charity Projects page. Please also share our GoFundMe fundraiser with your friends and family who might like to help out with masks but cannot help with the sewing of them. Our fundraiser is helping to pay for the fabric that we are providing to anyone who asks (over $5000 given away so far) and to supplement the pay for the shop employees during this time of limited work hours.

If you have not joined in on some of the Zoom events being hosted by the shop, please read below about them. Wanda Earley has one for her UFO group this afternoon, as does Sandra Mazliah for any form of hand crafting our shop is involved in. They really are just a nice way to touch base and spend some time with other crafters.

We appreciate the support you've shown us during these uncertain times. Whether you are an essential worker during this crisis or doing your part to #stayhome, you are in our thoughts!

    Happy stitching,
    Sarah & the IQF&Y crew

STITCH ALONG WITH IQF&Y

Please note: All social stitching times are occurring via Zoom for the time being.

Sandra has worked out a way to have virtual craft time using Zoom, which is a free, online platform for spending time together for things like virtual meetings and gatherings. You can sign up for our virtual Crafting Alone, Together! (formerly known as Sit & Knit) here. It is great to connect in this time of separateness. Sandra is reinstating our regularly scheduled Sit & Knit times, but inviting all crafters to join our virtual get together. Join us via the Zoom application, either by video or audio connection. You can join anywhere and anytime on a laptop, tablet or phone. Once you sign up here, you will be emailed the information for joining in.

All the in-store meeting times below are suspended until further notice:

Sit & Stitch (Fabric)
Fridays, 10 am-1 pm suspended for now
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some quilt piecing by hand fun with friends! (We recommend bringing a snack so you can pop downstairs for a quick bite to stay energized for a full day of stitching.)

Open Sew
Weekdays suspended for now
Bring your machine and supplies to our classroom space and work on your sewing and quilting projects. If you see two days in a row listed, you are welcome to leave your things overnight for ease of sewing for two days, like a mini retreat.

Tuesday evening Sit & Stitch (Yarn)
Every Tuesday 6:30-8:30pm on Zoom
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! Crocheters are welcome, too! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting.

Thursday Sit & Stitch (Yarn)
Thursdays, 10 am-1 pm on Zoom
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! Crocheters are welcome, too! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting.

Saturday Sit & Stitch (Yarn)
The 1st and 3rd Saturdays, 10 am-1 pm on Zoom
Drop in any time during the posted hours for some yarn fun with friends! Crocheters are welcome, too! This is great for beginners especially, as knitting near more experienced knitters allows for you to get immediate help with questions and mistakes which then helps you learn to recognize mistakes yourself and gives you the practice time to get better with your knitting.

Open Handcrafting
Sundays, noon-4 pm
Bring your handcrafts -- knitting, crocheting, EPP, hand applique, cross stitch, embroidery and more -- to work on at our spacious table among friends.

Our instructors are experienced quilters, eager to share their knowledge with you as you make a lap-size quilt from start to finish. You'll learn a variety of valuable techniques and terms, such as cutting, strip piecing, seam allowance, pin-basting, quilting, binding and more. We break up the class into four, 4-hour sessions, with "homework" you'll do in between sessions. A sewing machine is required for this class. Don't have one? We have two sewing machines you can reserve to use in the shop for class with a $25 deposit that will be returned to you when the classes are done. Taught by Sarah Oliver. Three student minimum.

Knitting/Crocheting Classes

Sandra's current shop KnitAlong, Norah's Vintage Afghan, with just a little bit of tweaking has made it possible for her to move it online. She's using Zoom for her weekly KnitAlong meetings on the 1st and 3rd Monday mornings and the 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoons, and you sign up here or you can take part on your own during our ongoing virtual Crafting Alone, Together by signing up here. Once you have signed up, you will be emailed the information on how to join in. In addition, Sandra will be recording the instructions to set up each block in he Knit Companion App along with any tips she thinks will help.

Knitting 101 by reservation
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit or we can set up a time that works better for your schedule. Just reserve your spot for $40 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. Yarn and knitting needles included! We've found it is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the session. If you would like to set up a private one-on-one, sign up online and then email us to let us know what dates work for you.

Norah's Vintage Afghan
A virtual knitalong (for the time being)
Our current shop knitalong, Norah's Vintage Afghan, with just a little bit of tweaking has moved online. Sandra is using Zoom for her weekly knitalong meetings. The regularly scheduled meetings will be on the 1st and 3rd Monday mornings and the 2nd and 4th Sunday afternoons, and you sign up here or you can take part on your own during our ongoing virtual Crafting Alone, Together by signing up here. Once you have signed up, you will be emailed the information on how to join in. In addition, Sandra will be recording the instructions to set up each block in he Knit Companion App along with any tips she thinks will help. Led by Sandra Mazliah.

English Paper-Piecing Club
First Saturday of the month , 9:30 am-1 pm Free

UFO Club with Wanda Earley
First Tuesday of the month, 4:30-7:30 pm Free
Come join our paper piecing teacher Wanda Earley as she leads a monthly UFO Club. By Hand: The Art of Slow Quilting
Third Saturday of the month, 9:30 am-1 pm Free
Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating. When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing. We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting.  This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other.
