Summer hasn't officially started yet but the weather seems to have arrived with the return of warmer temps and rain. It's getting a little too warm for outside chores, except early and late in the day, which makes it ideal weather for working on crafty projects indoors. We've been using all our technology of late to help folks pick out quilt borders and backs or yarn for baby gifts as many of us shift from making masks to working on our own projects.
To help you save some money while planning some new projects to work on while the heat (and Covid19) keeps you stuck inside and to help us clean out some stragglers, we have put quite a few "last chance" items on sale. You can find these things on our Sale Page where you can then filter by things like Yarn or Kit or Bundle. The sale page is also a great place to find fabric by the yard (we add thing regularly) for all your sewing projects.
We remain open for online shopping and phone help with curbside pick up and shipping options as we continue to maintain safe practices related to the coronavirus pandemic. We are back in the shop this week for curbside pick up and phone help. We will be manning the phones 10 am-6 pm today, 6/9/20, and 10 am-3 pm Wednesday trough Saturday, 6/10-6/13/20. We are temporarily closed Sundays (until further notice) and continue to be closed on Mondays.
If you come to pick up at the shop, please remain in your car and call us to being your order out to you. Please help us spread the word that we are still closed to any in-store shopping as we have had several people come to the store expecting to come in to shop. We will remain closed to in-store shopping as long as there is a significant risk in our area (our county still has some of the highest numbers in the state). We appreciate your patience and understanding with our decision to try to keep our staff and customers healthy.
Anna Maria Horner's Wheelhouse Medallion quilt-along has kicked off, featuring her beautiful Hindsight fabric line. If you've been thinking you wanted to take part in this program, there's still time to get sewing by grabbing our last Wheelhouse Medallion kit. The kit includes all the fabric you need for the quilt top, reusable heat-resistant templates plus a printed copy of the pattern (exclusive to participants).
Some of our most requested items are back in stock at IQF&Y! We received bolts of dark gray and black solids, 1/4" elastic. (white, black and latex free), Quilters Dream batting, and a new bolt of UGA quilting cotton. If you've been looking for them, now is your chance to grab what you need, since these may sell out quickly.
We are eagerly watching our email for the shipping notification for the Tula's True Colors collection by Tula Pink for FreeSpirit Fabrics, which is now available for preorder on our website. Tula's fabric designs are in hot demand for all kinds of quilting and sewing projects and we're sure these will be a must-have for the Tula Troops. The collection is a versatile set of Tula basics, featuring an assortment of prints in a range of colors that work with so many of her collections. Included in the line is Tula's popular Fairy Dust print from her Pinkerville line in new colors plus a return of the amazing Cotton Candy colorway! The fabric is supposed to start shipping to stores next week although that could really mean the week after. Get your orders in ahead of the delivery and we will get yours cut before the bolts ever hit the floor!
For information on making face masks, check out our Charity Projects page. Please also share our GoFundMe fundraiser with your friends and family who might like to help out with masks but cannot help with the sewing of them. Our fundraiser is helping to pay for the fabric that we are providing to anyone who asks (over $5000 given away so far) and to supplement the pay for the shop employees during this time of limited work hours.
We appreciate the support you've shown us during these uncertain times. Whether you are an essential worker during this crisis or doing your part to #stayhome, you are in our thoughts!

Virtual Crafting Time
Sandra has worked out a way to have virtual craft time using Zoom, which is a free, online platform for spending time together for things like virtual meetings and gatherings. You can sign up for our virtual Crafting Alone, Together! (formerly known as Sit & Knit) here. It is great to connect in this time of separateness. Sandra is reinstating our regularly scheduled Sit & Knit times, but inviting all crafters to join our virtual get together. Join us via the Zoom application, either by video or audio connection. You can join anywhere and anytime on a laptop, tablet or phone. Once you sign up here, you will be emailed the information for joining in.
Please note: All classes are postponed for the time being.

Knitting 101 by reservation
You can learn how to get started knitting during our weekly sit and knit or we can set up a time that works better for your schedule. Just reserve your spot for $40 prior to that day (either in store, online or by phone) and we will make sure there is someone there dedicated to teaching you how for the first hour of the morning sit & knit. Yarn and knitting needles included! We've found it is a great way for folks to learn. They can then sit with the teacher for awhile knitting and get help learning how to fix little mistakes as they arise. We've had great feedback on teaching knitting this way versus a separate class. Reservations must be made at least 48 hours prior to the session. If you would like to set up a private one-on-one, sign up online and then email us to let us know what dates work for you.Norah's Vintage Afghan A virtual knitalong (for the time being)Our current shop knitalong, Norah's Vintage Afghan, with just a little bit of tweaking has moved online. Sandra is using Zoom for her weekly knitalong meetings. The regularly scheduled meetings are on Sunday afternoons from 1:30-4:40pm, and you sign up here or you can take part on your own during our ongoing virtual Crafting Alone, Together by signing up here. Once you have signed up, you will be emailed the information on how to join in. In addition, Sandra will provide instructions on the 1st and 3rd Sundays to set up each block in the Knit Companion App along with any tips she thinks will help. Led by Sandra Mazliah.
