Beginning Quilt Making 101

A sewing machine, quilting supplies, the book First Time Quilting, fabric and batting are required. Supplies will cost around $150-$200 on top of the class fee, but the cutting implements, which are about half that estimate, you will need for all your future quilting. We may be able to find some loaner tools for you if you really are not sure about future quilting but you will then need to come into the shop in between classes to use tools for your homework.
This class fills up quickly so don't hesitate! Learn to make a lap size quilt from beginning to end. In this class, the intimidation of quilting will be eliminated. You will be taught many techniques and rules, such as cutting, strip piecing, seam allowance, pin-basting, quilting, binding and more. The class is taught in 4 sessions (4 hours each) and requires homework and a sewing machine. A sense of humor is also helpful. Taught by Maxine Moore.
Follow Up to Beginning Quilt Making

Maxine is teaching a follow-up to the beginners quilt class after several requests from her teachers. You will learn half square triangles, flying geese, pinwheel s and more. The reference book required is "Quilting The Basics and beyond". This is a 4 hour class. The quilt we will be working on is on page 106 (Shoo Fly). Taught by Maxine Moore
Sewing Studio

Finished our Sewing Machine Basics and ready to tackle a new challenge? Bring the clothing or purse pattern of your choice (with all the supplies listed on the back of the pattern) and our instructor will help you from start to finish. Get help choosing the proper size, cutting, construction and finishing techniques. Given the individualized nature of this class, class size is limited to four students. Taught by Mary Abreu.

Bias Binding

Introduction to Paper-piecing

This class will teach you the basics of paper-piecing and help to alleviate any fears or frustrations you have related to paper-piecing. You will be surprised how doable it really is. Taught by Wanda Earley.
Serger Techniques

Do you want to learn how to better use your serger? Bring it and the manual for it to this class, and Mary Abreu will walk you through how to use the machine and several stitch techniques to do with the machine. Most materials will be provided. You just need your machine, the manual and thread for your machine. Taught by Mary Abreu.

Hand Quilting

Learn to hand-quilt. This class will introduce you to hand-quilting stitches. You will also learn about the different types of frames, batting, needles and threads used in hand quilting. This class does not teach you have to piece anything, only to do the quilting stitches that hold the three layers of a quilt together. Taught by Sheila Blair. Limit 6
