Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day!

Happy Quilting!

January 21st, 2013
We have been busy planning for the national "Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day" at our shop this Thursday January 24th. We will have some fun things going on that day including a visit from three local fabric designer/authors, Ellen Luckett Baker, Melody Miller and Rashida Coleman-Hale. We have fabric from all three of these fabulous designers in the shop and this is your chance to meet them or visit with them again if you've met them before. We will also have a preview of several of our new lunch hour classes and a light lunch for you to enjoy while you are checking things out. We might even have a few specials available for you that day.
Please RSVP to our email with 1/24 in the subject line so we can get an idea of numbers for the food. Make sure to come on out and support your local quilt shop!
We are getting more fabric in the shop almost daily. Yesterday we got in some Serenity Basics Daiwabo fabric (yes we got some taupes in!) and some fun, new, bright batiks! The Dr. Seuss "Oh, the Places You'll Go", some Spot
On polka dots,
and a few Seuss Celebration bolts have just arrived this morning and it is Oh, sew cute! We just got in a big shipment of batting, 505 spray, some  new scents of Best Press.
Our 2012 clubs have or will start very soon. Both new Block of the Month programs started  Saturday 1/12 although you can join in any time. Both sets of teachers are cutting a few extra for late sign-ups. The Slow Quilting club begins tomorrow, 1/19, and the Marti & Me club begins on the 1st Sunday or 3rd Tuesday in February. You can read below in the 2013 club section to see pictures of the two block of the month quilts or visit the website here for more details and to sign up online.
We do have a few classes happening in January so read below to not miss out on those. Check the website regularly and read your weekly emails to see the latest additions. This year we will be adding some weekday lunch hour classes at least once a month on Thursdays and maybe even more than that. We will start off in February with a Fat 1/4 bag. These classes will be just $10 and will be short enough to fit them in a long lunch hour. We will introduce a few of these class at the "Visit Your Local Quilt Shop Day" on 1/24 at 11:30am.
If you did not read about this in past emails, we have a new email program that is a part of our new website. We are still trying to work our the kinks with the two emails systems so we can get down to using just one, but we are not there yet. Thanks for being patient with us! We hope to be there in the next few weeks.

Happy sewing!

By Hand-the Art of Slow Quilting
Sometimes it is good to take a break from doing everything fast. Handwork is a great way to slow down and enjoy the process of creating.  When you do handwork, you can often take it with you to take advantage of times when you are just waiting for something else, you can actually talk to friends and family while working on your projects, and it is relaxing.  We will get together and work on quilting projects by hand - hand piecing, English paper piecing, hand appliqué, hand quilting.  This is the time where you can bring in any project that you are working on or want to begin working on and we can help/encourage/get inspired by each other. This group will meet on the 3rd Saturday from 9:30am-1pm. There will be a $60 charge for the year which can be prorated if you start after January.

Marti and Me Club at Intown
Join Shirley Paine as she leads this fun club built around Marti Michelle's templates and patterns. This club will being in February and you can choose between the 1st Sunday of each month from 4-6p or the 3rd Tuesday of each month from 6-8p in the classroom at IQ. The cost of the club is $60 for the year and entitles you to a different project each month including a free pattern, discounts on the supplies needed for the project and instruction from Shirley Paine.  Each pattern makes a small, as well as, a large quilt project.

Kids' Sewing

*Class cancellation policy
You can cancel a class up to two weeks prior to class for a full refund. We will only cancel a class if we have to. If you miss a class we can try to get you in the next class with a fee (fee is determined by the length of the class) to cover the lost spot in that class.
